CSRD runs free, every Monday, at MOHAI

Club Seattle Runners Division has never charged a membership fee.

It has 871 members. Ashley Davies, Miran McCash, and David Jaewon Oh founded the club in February 2017 after Nike Run Club Seattle stopped holding organized runs.

Davies explained the origin to Tempo Journal: "We started CSRD when Nike Run Club (NRC) Seattle stopped having organized runs. Miran, a Seattle native, and I, a seattle transplant, met through NRC. David was one of the photographers who took pictures for Nike's events, and had seen running crews across the country but recognized there was something different and special about this group."

Sweepers, not pacers

Most run clubs put pacers at the front.

CSRD puts volunteers called sweepers at the back, so no one gets lost or left behind. The two founding mantras say it plainly: "All paces and all faces welcomed" and "no runner left behind."

David Jaewon Oh made the contrast explicit in 2018: "We've seen too many running 'groups' that would blow past everyone who comes to run and often leaving newer runners in the group feeling left out and sometimes embarrassed. We don't encourage that here. We certainly have fast runners that'll take on longer routes on Monday, October 26, but they encourage each other as they willingly pace each other."

Monday Night Miles along the water

The club meets at MOHAI, 860 Terry Ave N at the south end of Lake Union Park.

Monday, October 26, Night Miles went at 6:30pm, one to five miles; Saturday Miles starts at 8am from the parking lot. The Monday, October 26, route ran out-and-back along Westlake Ave North, with the five-mile option crossing the Fremont Ave bridge before turning back to Gas Works Park.

Oh on that finish: "Gas Works Park is a popular spot for people in Seattle. We feel like it's a nice reward for 5 milers to admire the view of the city before they head back to downtown." Seattle Met reported in December 2025 that a typical Monday Night Miles draws 75 to 150 runners.

Community before running club

Davies told Fox 13 in 2024: "We're not a running club first. We are a community first, before we are a running club. Other people from the outside see people they know who maybe they didn't think were runners or people they know who care about things that they care about. That makes the group continue to be accessible and open." Co-founder Miran McCash: "Anyone can come, everyone will feel welcome."

How to show up

Both weekly runs are free.

The next one was Halloween Night Miles on Monday, October 26, at 6:30pm at MOHAI, with a costume contest and New Balance prizes for solo, duo, and group costumes.

CSRD takes a seasonal break from mid-December through mid-February; the 2026 season closes with a holiday party at Georgetown Stables on Friday, December 11, 2026 at 7pm PST. Find the club and RSVP at heylo.group/runcsrd.
