The campus draws a price line

No lake anchors this stretch, no single trail loop. Ravenna, Wedgwood, and University Village sit north and east of the University of Washington campus, and the training floors here line up along three short arterials instead of one shared landmark: 35th Ave NE in Wedgwood, NE 49th St inside University Village, and the Blakeley and 65th corridor through Ravenna. University Village itself sits in the southern corner of Ravenna, built in 1956 across NE 45th St, the arterial that still divides campus traffic from neighborhood traffic. Distance from that street does most of the organizing work below.

It shows up in the pricing. Inside University Village, a Pilates studio built around private reformer work sits storefronts away from a national chain running a $119 a month rate for anyone 25 and under. Out on 35th Ave NE, a heart rate studio and a yoga room open since 1999 price for a household budget, not a campus one. The same few miles hold both a $118 private Pilates session and a $10 yoga guest pass. Two of the seven rooms below, the martial arts floor and the personal training suite, post no rate card at all, pricing set case by case instead. That range is the story.

35th Ave NE holds Wedgwood

Orangetheory Fitness, 7317 35th Ave NE. Next door to Starbucks, across the street from Safeway. The format runs three blocks under one coach: treadmill, rower, and floor, each segment timed to a heart rate zone shown on screen. Membership runs in tiers from $99 to $649 a month, Basic through Premier Plus, with class packs priced separately from $140 for five classes to $649 for thirty. First class runs free for eligible new members.

8 Limbs Yoga Centers, 7345 35th Ave NE. Open since 1999, a few doors down from Orangetheory on the same block, one of several 8 Limbs studios across Seattle. Hatha, vinyasa flow, restorative, prenatal, and kids' classes fill the weekly schedule. Doors lock at class start, a posted studio policy. All access membership runs $140 a month on a two month minimum, with a $50 fee for cancelling before the second payment. Guest passes run $10 each, capped at two a month per member.

NE 49th anchors the Village

TruFusion, 2694 NE 49th St. Inside University Village. Heated and unheated formats fill the rotation: bootcamp, cycling, barre, hot Pilates, mat Pilates, kettlebell and TRX circuits, boxing, and a yoga list spanning ashtanga, vinyasa, and yin. Showers and lockers sit on site. Doors open 6am to 8pm on weekdays, 9am to 3pm on the weekend. Full membership runs $179 a month after an introductory half off first month. Members 25 and under pay $119 a month instead, no long term contract, thirty days notice to cancel.

Metropolitan Pilates, 2688 NE 49th St. Next to Gene Juarez, parking in the north garage. Gratz reformers under 15 foot ceilings, locker rooms with showers. Private sessions run $118 single, semi-private $66, and a new client starter set of five privates runs $510. Mat Plus group classes meet Saturdays at 10am, $35 a single class or $260 for a package of eight. Hours run 7am to 8pm on weekdays, shorter both weekend days.

Ravenna runs on Blakeley and 65th

Vitality Pilates, 2201 NE 65th St. One of three Seattle studios, alongside Phinney Ridge and Mount Baker. Mat and reformer work fill the schedule, taught in small group classes, private lessons, live Zoom sessions, and video on demand. The studio prices its sessions to stay financially accessible while keeping instruction close to one on one, a different posture than the Village's rate card three miles west.

Alpha Martial Arts, 2923 NE Blakeley St. Karate, taekwondo, Muay Thai, kickboxing, and Brazilian jiu jitsu under one roof, running since 2001. Weekday classes run in blocks from 4pm to 8:15pm, Saturday morning from 9am to 1pm, split across kids, teen, and adult levels. Saturday also carries Hyper Weapons, Hyper Tricking, and Demo Team practice on top of the standard Dragons and Junior karate blocks. Every class requires a reservation, capacity limited per session, kickboxing and Muay Thai booked on a daily RSVP basis.

Sama Fitness, 5000 30th Ave NE, Suite 100. One on one personal training and reformer Pilates, plus small HIIT and yoga classes, sessions run by appointment. Hours run 7am to 8pm Monday through Thursday, 7am to 1pm Friday, closed the weekend, a schedule built around a workday, not a walk in crowd.

Street by street

35th Ave NE carries Wedgwood's two anchor studios within sight of each other, a heart rate floor a few doors from a yoga room. NE 49th St runs through the middle of University Village off 25th Ave NE, where a national chain's under 25 rate sits blocks from a Pilates studio charging over a hundred dollars a session. The shopping center's own footprint runs from 22nd Ave NE to Union Bay Place NE, and both studios sit inside that line. Blakeley and 65th carry Ravenna's split further east: a martial arts room that runs on reservations only, a reformer studio priced around accessibility, and a personal training suite that closes on weekends.

The pattern holds at every distance from campus. Closest to the university, price spreads widest, a $119 student rate and a $510 starter package sharing the same parking garage. Out in Wedgwood and Ravenna, the range narrows and the schedules lengthen into full weeks. Seven rooms, three streets, and one number that keeps repeating: how far a membership card has to travel from NE 45th before the price stops being a campus price.
