The South Lake Union gym guide: keycard hours, noon classes, and seven floors under the towers

The neighborhood that clocks in
South Lake Union trains on a work schedule. Roughly 60 percent of the neighborhood falls between 25 and 44, and most of that number walks to a tower on Terry, Boren, or Westlake five mornings a week. Training lands in the gaps: before the first meeting, inside a lunch hour, after the last one.
That shapes these rooms more than the equipment does. In Ballard the question is what the floor can hold. Here the question is whether the door opens at 5am, whether a keycard still works at 10pm, and whether 45 minutes at noon repays the walk and the change of clothes. Two of the seven never close. Two more open before six.
Seven rooms answer it differently.
The floors that never close
KlickWay Athletics, 1317 Republican St. Member access runs 24 hours on keyless entry, with staff on site Monday through Friday from 9am to 8pm and weekends from 10am to 5pm. The floor favors strength work: squat racks, deadlift platforms, MaxPump equipment, turf for functional training, and a dedicated posing room, which is the tell that this floor is built for bodybuilding as much as general strength.
KlickWay also runs the most literal answer to the SLU problem on this list. Lunch Hour Strength meets at 12:00pm Tuesday and Thursday, 45 minutes, strength focused, scheduled around a lunch break rather than apologizing for one.
Transform 180 Training, 300 Fairview Ave N. Open around the clock as well, with entry through the Kisi app instead of a fob. The equipment runs Hammer Strength, Technogym, Rogue, and Eleiko, plus squat racks, platforms, and two 50 foot sled turfs. Rowers and GHD stations fill out the rest. Front desk hours stay narrower than access hours on purpose, which is the trade for a floor that answers at any hour.
Those two cover the same need from opposite ends of the neighborhood. Anyone whose calendar moves without warning trains at one of them.
Forty five minutes, door to door
Row House South Lake Union, 419 Fairview Ave N. Rowing intervals and floor work across five formats: Signature, Strength, Full Row, Restore, and Intervals. The clock is the detail that matters at this address. Row House runs 45 minute full classes and 30 minute express classes, and the express slot is the one that survives a real lunch hour with a walk on both ends. Full Row holds 40 plus minutes of rowing and nothing else, for anyone who wants the erg without the floor.
Fairview is the east rail of SLU. From the Amazon blocks that walk stays short enough to leave time to eat.
The room that stays open longest
Flow Fitness South Lake Union, 311 Terry Ave N. The widest staffed window on this guide: Monday through Friday from 5:30am to 10pm, Saturday 8am to 7pm, Sunday 8am to 5pm. Nearly 60 classes a week run alongside an open gym floor, so a barbell session and a cycle class share one membership. Sixteen and a half hours on a weekday covers both ends of a commute without a keycard involved.
The support layer earns its keep at this address. Locker rooms and showers, towel service, and a dry sauna, which is what makes a pre-work session workable for anyone walking into a Terry Avenue office straight after.
First light on Westlake
Barry's, 112 Westlake Ave N. Doors at 5am Monday through Thursday and closing at 8pm, 5am to 7pm on Friday, 7am to 2:30pm on weekends. Classes run 50 minutes, split between treadmill intervals and floor strength, with a Double Floor option for anyone skipping the tread.
The 5am open is the whole proposition. Westlake Avenue at that hour runs clear in both directions, well ahead of the corridor filling up.
One zone, one clock
Work Hard Live Fit, 231 Dexter Ave N. Open Monday through Thursday 6am to 8:30pm, Friday until 7:30pm, weekends 8am to 12pm. The format centers on the HALO, a 13 by 13 foot training zone stocked with barbells, rowers, bikes, benches, kettlebells, dumbbells, bands, and wall balls, so nothing on the floor gets shared mid session.
Sessions run 50 minutes, coach led. Monthly InBody 570 scans sit alongside the programming. Dexter marks the western edge of the neighborhood, which puts this room closest to the Denny Triangle side of the commute.
The club on the east edge
PRO Club Seattle, 501 Eastlake Ave E, 2nd Floor. Hours run 6am to 9pm on weekdays and 7am to 7pm on weekends. Studio classes, personal training, and physical therapy share one roof, alongside the 20/20 Lifestyles program and a salon and medical spa layer. Group sessions run through Studio MIXX and Studio 501.
Towels come complimentary and parking comes free, and in this neighborhood the parking is the more valuable of the two. Showers close 15 minutes ahead of the club. The address sits at the far northeast corner, closer to Cascade than to the Amazon core, and the free parking answers exactly that distance.
Reading the grid
The seven do not compete for the same lifter. The split falls along the clock rather than the equipment.
The practical read: Dexter is the west edge and the coached hour, Terry is the middle and the long day, Fairview is the east rail and carries one 24 hour floor plus the express row, Westlake runs south toward Denny and takes the earliest scheduled class of the day, Republican sits at the north end with the platforms, the second 24 hour floor, and the noon class, and Eastlake is the far corner with the parking.
Everything above sits inside a walkable grid roughly a mile deep, which means the choice comes down to hours rather than distance. A keycard covers the unpredictable weeks. A class schedule covers the ones that hold.
Two things decide a membership here, and the rack count is neither. The first is how far the room sits from the desk. The second is whether the door is open when the calendar finally clears.
